Success abounds in the two ancient Chinese health care system classes offered by a central PA Medical Center. Qigong & Tai Chi Easy. Both of these systems integrate physical postures, breathing techniques and focused intention. The word Qigong, (pronounced chee) means life force or vital energy that flows throughout the body and is present in all things in the universe. And Gong, (pronounced gung), means accomplishment, or skill that is cultivated through steady practice. Qigong means cultivating energy. It's a system practiced for health maintenance, healing and increased vitality. Tai Chi, another part of Traditional Chinese Medicine also has a bit more movement, with measures postures, breathing and mind intent.
These internationally practiced programs have been around for thousands of years in one of the oldest civilizations on the planet, China.
In the past two years, in the local communities these programs have been introduced, students have sited, via a survey numerous positive results. In it some students reported changes in their sleeping patterns, some clearer fuller breathing, and deeper relaxation. One woman reported that she was no longer incontinent, and another sited pain relief. A former college professor has seen a marked decrease in his blood pressure.
Clearly, Qigong is not a panacea, so it's important to state here what one of my Master teachers has so eloquently put it. We have two lungs, and like the two lungs that work side by side and in unison, Eastern & Western medicine work together. Both have the marked goals and aid in helping us live a healthier, more productive pain free life.
But all of these wonderful proven disciplines do not come without practice. Like your garden it takes time to yield a harvest. In this brief outline it's quite difficult to site all the wonderful, (Qi), energy and vitality that emanates from these classes. So as a teacher, I'm extremely elated and motivated to continue my studies and share this wonderful gift.
